Kanthaswamy (Tamil: கந்தசாமி) is a forthcoming Tamil feature film currently being directed by Susi Ganesan, who with Kanthaswamy will direct his fourth film. Vikram acts in the lead role, whilst Shriya Saran, Krishna, Ashish Vidyarthi, Indrajith Sukumaran, Prabhu Ganesan and Vadivelu also play roles in the film. The film’s soundtrack and background score will be composed by Devi Sri Prasad. The film is also to be released as Mallana in Telugu and also in English, Spanish and Italian.

S. Thanu, the film’s producer had initially mentioned that the film would be released by mid-2008, however the filming has taken much longer, mainly because of a few shooting halts; especially because of the sudden death of Raghuvaran, who was given a major role in the film. The film’s soundtrack was released on May 17, 2009, with the much-awaited release of the film itself on August 21, 2009 after several postponements, which included avoiding 2009 IPL cricket season.[4] The film has been under production since early 2007.
